Up to 50% of veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with traumatic brain injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder are at risk of developing epilepsy. On Thursday, September 8, the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago will present a free educational program focusing on the latest issues surrounding epilepsy which specifically impact veterans and their loved ones at the Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital.
Presenter Youngsook Park, MD, Assistant Professor of Neurology at Loyola’s Stritch School of Medicine will address a variety of topics, including the correlation between traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic epilepsy. Program participants will learn about quality epilepsy care, the signs and symptoms of epilepsy, and various treatment options.
