Each year, more than 50 children ages 6-17 attend the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago’s Camp Blackhawk. For a full week, kids are treated to the outdoor experience of a lifetime.
With an average of 2 children per counselor, and medical staff on-site, there is always a helping hand when needed at Camp Blackhawk. Counselors are specially trained to handle the needs of children with epilepsy.
This year, Camp Blackhawk is once again being held at Camp Red Leaf at Red Leaf Village, an American Camp Association (ACA) accredited camp which is located in Ingleside, IL and operated by the Jewish Council for Youth Services. Ingleside is in Lake County, just south of the Illinois/Wisconsin Border in Lake County and easily accessible by car or Metra train. Parents and/or caretakers will once again be required to transport their child to and from camp.
Camp Blackhawk activities include: Rock Clinbing, Swimming, Archery, Canoeing, Music, Fishing …and more!
There is no cost to attend camp, however, donations are accepted to help support its funding. Also, please be aware that there are a limited number of spaces available for campers. Spaces are given on a first-come, first-serve basis. Priority acceptance will be given to people within the Foundation’s service area.
